THE FIRE FLY IS OUR SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT MODEL. It weighs only 1.75 ounces, so light you don’t even feel it. Perfect for hikers and backpackers, and people who are carrying all of their gear on their backs.
The Fire Fly fire starter has five components:
- European Ferrocerium Rod / Flint (1/4" diameter by 2.5 inches long).
- Military Grade Magnesium Rod 95% pure ( 3/8 inch diameter by 3 inches long).
- High Carbon, Tempered Steel Striker/Scraper (sharpened).
- Hardwood handle.
- 550 lb tensile strength 7 strand core paracord, 20 inches long.
THIS FIRE STARTER IS DESIGNED FOR THE ULTRA BACKPACKER.
We have made some significant changes to the Firefly:
1, The magnesium has been doubled.
2. The Ferro Rod is 1/2 an inch longer and slightly wider.
3. 1/4 inch of the Ferro Rod is buried in the handle. 1/4 inch exposed.
4. The overall length has gone from 5 inches to 5 1/4 inches long.
5. All these improvements and the overall weight only increased by a 1/4 ounce.
6. Total weight: 1.75 ounces.
